DESCRIPTION:

Chamomile brings to mind cosy evenings and soothing cups of tea; yet Roman chamomile is one of the oldest recorded medicinal herbs and has been used for centuries to treat many ailments. The ancient Egyptians used the calming properties of this attractive plant as a remedy for fever, and chamomile has been a staple remedy for British herbalists for generations. Native to Western Europe, the chamomile plant is commercially cultivated in the UK, France and Hungary. The essential oil is obtained from the attractive white flowers and stems of chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), which, once distilled, releases a sweet, fruity and herbaceous scent. Chamomile is widely known for its calming properties on the mind and is used in aromatherapy to combat anxiety and soothe frayed nerves. It is also an excellent aid for insomnia. Applied to the skin, chamomile helps to soothe irritated or inflamed skin caused by sun exposure, dehydration or general dryness.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

In a vaporiser: add 6 to 8 drops of essential oil to a vaporiser or burner. Inhalation: add 3 to 5 drops of essential oil to a bowl of very hot water, inhale the vapours for 5 to 10 minutes. (Inhalation only for children over 10 years of age.) For massage: dilute 5 drops of essential oil with 10 ml of a carrier oil, such as almond or jojoba oil. Bath: add 4 to 6 drops of essential oil to 20 ml of carrier oil. Mix into the water.

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply directly to the skin.
