DESCRIPTION:
Pterostilbenes is a natural counterpart of resveratrol, found among others in fruits such as blueberries, cranberries and grapes. It belongs to a group of compounds called phytoalexins. Plants produce these compounds to defend themselves against pathogens such as bacteria and fungi.
Of all fruits and vegetables, blueberries contain the most antioxidants.
Pterostilbenes, found among others in blueberries and grapes, used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, dissolve very well in fats, which means they are better absorbed when taken in supplement form. Current studies estimate their bioavailability at around 80%. They are very stable and their level remains in the blood for a long time (for 105 minutes).
