DESCRIPTION:
L-citrulline is a precursor of L-arginine, which plays an important role in the body's production of nitric oxide (NO).
L-citrulline is an amino acid composed of three functional groups: an amino group (-NH2), a carboxyl group (-COOH) and a side chain containing a citrulline residue. It is a non-protein amino acid, which means it is not a building block of proteins, but it can play an important role in metabolic processes. L-citrulline occurs naturally in certain food sources, such as watermelons (in which the content of L-citrulline is particularly high), pumpkins, melons and other fruits. It can also be produced by living organisms through biosynthesis.
